Welcome to project 17 of 25! Today we will be making “Cozy Clothespin Hangers”. This project is super versatile and can be customized for any holiday or time of year. This step-by-step guide will show you exactly how you can dress up ordinary clothespins with just a few inexpensive materials.

clothespins

I purchased the standard sized clothespins for a dollar, but you can use those shorter clothespins or even mini clothespins (if you don’t mind getting a bit detailed!)

HOW TO DO IT!

Okay, now that we’ve gotten all of the materials out of the way, let’s get started on what to actually do. Below you will find complete instructions from start to finish.

STEP 1: plan your patterns

I actually didn’t know how many clothespins I was going to end up needing, so I decided to just start with 10 and go from there. I wanted to repeat the pattern, so I though, why not have 2 clothespins be the same and make 5 sets. As you can see in the final I ended up making 14 clothespins, with 7 designs total.

STEP 2: layout your clothespins

This step is important. Make sure you pick the side you want decorated–I knew which side for mine because the wire portion was embedded into the wood part, rather than sticking out.

STEP 3: start decorating

This is pretty self-explanatory, but you’ll definitely want a few coats of paint if you’re using paint.

For the washi or masking tape ones, you’ll want to trim off the excess with an Xacto knife or scissors.

For the glitter ones, just use one layer of mod podge and then coat liberally with glitter. Once that layer is dry, you can go ahead and coat it with mod podge again to seal it. I didn’t do that because I’m pretty lazy. I also have a billion other crafts to do–so if I don’t HAVE to do something, I wont 🙂
